Based on the reply to this FOIA from Needhelp!, it seems that we have a bigger problem than transparency.
They have said that country of chargeability is not assigned until case is ready for approval. However, whether or not a case is ready for approval is determined by country of chargeability. If you have 500,000 pending cases and dont know how many cases for each country of chargeability, then the only way to respond to a visa bulletin is to go thru all 500,000 cases every month, take a peek in it, look at the PD, look at the country and see if it is up for approval. I dont think they are doing that.
Also, if priority date is something that is different for different countries, then cases for those countries have to be sorted by priority date in different silos, so that when the next bulletin comes, you know how many cases are eligible that month and which ones are the earliest cases (from PD perspective) for each country.

Every now and then i meet people who think/claim that UK/Aus/Canada/France/Germany are better places to live than US. They point at their labor policies, care for human rights, civil liberties such as gay rights etc. Recently heard that French people work the least # of hours in the world.
Despite of all the good things (in theory) in those countries, their racist attitude towards colored people make them less desirable than US. I have not been to EU/Aus but been to Canada at least a dozen times, and personally i feel US is a LOT BETTER country to live for colored people.

If I am offending anyone who tries to predict on visa bulleting cut-off days, I am sorry for doing so in advance. The agencies involved in this process themselves are out of clue and it is clearly pointed out by ombudsmen himself. I am still puzzled how they derive the cut-off days every month without such statistics? In the past there were numerous statistics regarding the cut-off date prediction and not even came close to what is getting published. This is one department who defy any logic in determining the cut-off dates. I think it is mere waste of time and energy in trying to do so at our end based on my past experience.

Yep. My impression is that IEEE USA is anti H1b, but it supports EB visa. For those who rail against desi consulting firms, IEEE USA is the friend, not the foe.

I would think twice before calling them a friend to any of us; they are at best anti free-trade restrictionists minus the rabidity and political incorrectness of our "friends". Logiclife - Me and my Attorney - had some email exchanges about all this stuff and she compliments all that IV has done and says we must educate people about advocacy
Maybe we should start with organizing some small events/seminars to spread awareness on what can be done and how important advocacy is, most people think that it does not make a difference. We could rope in local organizations

Yeah me too, in 2005 a company wanted to apply for me in EB3, though I was qualified for EB2. I didn't feel it was right to apply in EB3, unless you were a fresher.
I quit and joined an Wall street company in 2007, who finally applied in the right category

For me it was not EB3...I decided not to start GC as I was not married. I didnt know one can retain PD even after changing the company or hold up after I140.

Well, it's time to break the news.:p I didn't attend the rally because
(1) the first and foremost reason: a recent surgey at my backbone , and I may not be able to walk for more than 15 minutes continuously.
(2) the second and honest opinion: Even If I were doing well, I wouldn't have attended the rally due to the yelling-nature of words from some of the Core leaders, and their pushy messages.
(3) the third and final point: The rally pictures and the rally experience of other members have impressed me very much and have totally changed my mind. So, next time, whereever you organize the rally, I will be there.:p
This is my honest opinion about my abscence. I hope noone will jump on me for my reasoning.

It takes different things to motivate different people, which is why I am looking for real feedback to improve moving forward. I'm sure you understand, politely asking once or twice many not get through the flurry of daily posts that happen on this board :)

To any member who has been looking at some of the posts since April/May of this year it will be apparant that there has been an attempt by the ultra conservative, anti-immigration groups to create a divide among legal and so called illegal immigration issues. It was good to see that most members perceived this and stayed away from singing the legal vs illegal immigration tune.
Now comes the lame attempt to play on your fears again. What would happen to you if all these so called "illegals" were to get in line ahead of you? The knee-jerk reaction is so obvious. If you see deeper, you will find that all this is but wenting of frustration by the anti-immigration groups on their major loss in the recent elections.
There is a precedent for this behaviour. After the CIR was passed in Senate in May earlier this year, these same anti-immigration group members posted so many inflamatory posts that created a bad vibe on this forum. Well today is a redo of that. Just count the number of posts and you will know what I mean. ;) I urge all members to look at the new ray of hope provided by the change in the new congress and ignore attempts to dampen your enthusiasm in garb of fair and balanced aka an anti-immigration spin :)

I�m working for company A and company B has sponsored my GC as future employee and also did a H1 transfer from A but got a big RFE. Now company C is ready to do H1 transfer. Is it a good idea to do so or would get into problems as GC is in process through B? We did I-140 & I-485 concurrent filing and got our EAD�s approved but I-140 is still in pending status. I heard that using EAD is not a good idea when I-140 is pending.

I think pre-adjudication solves this catch-22 situation, and they have been pre-adjudicating quite a bit over the past two years. So, I dont think that this is an issue.

I can understand waiting for a year or 2. So you probably missed the July 2007 bus.
What can we all do to get out of this mess. We need some mass campaign addressing specific issues and an agile process where things happen every month. We need action.
