What does this statement mean?

per existing policies and procedures, requests for Premium Processing Service will continue to be processed within 15 days. USCIS wishes to assure all customers that the original received date (the date which the document is date stamped) will be honored and recorded on the receipt notice. This date will appear in the "Received Date" box on Form I-797, Notice of Action. The received date is different from the "Notice Date", which also appears on Form I-797. The Notice Date is the date the receipt notice was actually generated.

Interesting discussion...
My point - I am going to take things in a stride, basically wait till I can - doesn't hurt me as long as I go about my daily routine.
All who are thinking of jumping the fence and giving up, one piece of advice - if you do not have kids and plan to have any in this life, please do it NOW - have them be born here (all of them) and then move on with whatever / wherever you want to go.
At least this is a gift you will be giving your kids for their lifetime and all the generations following them (remember - a US citizen's kid can be a US citizen no matter where he/she is born) - so you will be arranging US citizenship for all your great^n * grand * kids (0 <= n <= infinity) !
This is how I think about it when I do not think about MYSELF. Once the kids are born, you can flaunt their American Passports and feel happy in their well-being and security (for whatever it is worth) and move on to Canada / India / Singapore / wherever! Live happily.
And do not forget your kids can sponsor you when they are 21.

makes no sense.....
EB3 India setp 2006 wasnt even current in Jun 2007....
Since LuckyPaji mentioned his brother came on investors visa, I'm thinking even he applied under INVESTOR CATEGORY-EB5..
Probably he is right that he got EAD, 140 and 485 receit notices etc...:) ..
Anyway he is not sure about his category..So it could be EB5 which was NEVER retrogressed..

I got my 485 approved yesterday. I applied for my 485 this June 13th I got my approval yesterday I am very happy about it. I hope everyone who applied will get their approval soon. Basically I am in marketing I want to get trained in java to get into IT field. Please let me know you�re thought is this a good move.

The video is obviously edited, so it is hard to put some of the statements into context without access to the entire transcript. (In any case, we cannot see what charts he is referring to)
Anyway: Regarding the point that it is relatively easy to find skilled people here than in India, I tend to agree. However, the reason is that the most skilled graduates from India (and China) do not stick around for long there, and are actually to be found here! Without checking the raw data it is impossible to comment on Mr Wadhwa's assertion regarding ease of filling positions in US vs India/China. (For instance, does his data on US companies include positions (in US) filled by immigrants or does it include only positions filled by US born citizens?)
Getting to where he is amazed that R&D is done in India & China, I'm not sure why that is surprising, and indeed, why should it even contradict his assertion that the vast majority of Indian/Chinese graduates are appalling. I'm not commenting on whether that assertion is true or not. I do not know, but, even granting it is true, it is important to remember that a minority of a large population might be as big, or bigger than the majority of a small population. (Remember, you have to exclude all foreign students from US universities and only include US born citizens in the population of American engineers. Why? Because all foreign students would need H1 to work here, just the same as a student in a Indian/Chinese university. To avoid 'double counting' basically) So how do we compare apples to apples? How do we compare "number of good engineers in US" vs "number of good engineers in China/India"? It is very hard to do that via a survey, if not impossible. The best survey is observing the "invisible hand" of the market: If good research is done in India/China, while simultaneously, immigrants from there have a had a huge role to play in Silicon Valley's success, that tells you something, does it not?

However, keep in mind that FB immigration is still a sore spot with the American public as the perception is that Immigrants bring their parents here to collect on SS and Medicare (true in some cases I guess). If it were left up to me, I would leave FB Immigration out of the writeup.......

is there any way, any way in this whole freakin process, that we can get some sort of explanation for eb3-I first hand from DOS or USCIS? i mean there needs to be some justification for the acts? i know there are laws to interpret these dates, but how do we know that those laws are interpreted correctly by DOS or USCIS? though i am in eb3-I , jan 2003, i personally know atleast 3 folks who are in 2002 - eb3-I. Can we get some sort of guidance here.
i will ask the iv folks who keep in touch with USCIS if they know anything. AFAIK though, USCIS has come out with no answers other than quoting the non availability of adequate visa numbers. if there is any more info i will let you know...

You make a good point. However, since I have mentioned both EB and FB in the article, I think it is appropriate to include that it can in fact take 20 years to get the GC. The Senate bill does have provisions to ameliorate both EB and FB backlogs, as far as I remember.

Perhaps it may be a good idea to mention that with economies of countries like India on an accelerated growth path, these highly educated, skilled and experienced professionals that are an asset to America are increasingly preferring to (or seriously thinking about) returning to their home countries.
Another scenario - 20-25 years down the road, America will no longer be a leader any more given the growth of India and China. To sustain the technological and economical leadership of America, it is critical that we act now and fix a broken immigration system, and grant those legally here for a number of years, with approved Green Card petitions the pride of actually becoming permanent residents and eventually citizens as quickly as possibly.

I thought the Background check and AP are independent of each other. Perhaps one of the gurus can confirm this.
Now I am worried too... man the surprises never end!

The number to call is 202-737-3220. Tell the receptionist that the Judiciary Committee hearing cannot be heard from Dirksen Rm 226 and that it is extremely important for you to hear this live as it unfolds
