Switched jobs in April 07. My attorney tells me that my Labor can be filed only in mid July at the earliest.
1. How long does it take for Labor to be approved? I am guessing end of September is when retrogression will kick in. Do I have enough time for that?
2. How long does it take to get the documents ready for to file I-140 and I-485 (counting eggs before it's hatched)? If I have Birth and Marriage certificates ready, is there anything else that I should watch out for?
BTW, don't think I am trying to take a short cut to independence. I did my time in backlog for 3 years, got fed up and quit.

I think yes you can as far as you have valid copy of your I-140 approval new employer can start the process and you can port the priority date.

in FireFox, there is a nothing next to the "Image Verification" field.
in IE, a "X" appears next to the "Image Verification" field, indicating the image cannot be displayed.
Anybody got this to work? Should I change any settings?

Ugandan-born Charles Wesley Mumbere, a former nurse's aide in Maryland and Pennsylvania, was crowned king of Uganda's 300,000-strong Rwenzururu Kingdom. Mumbere was sent to the US in 1984 as a young man in order to get an education. In 1987, he sought political asylum due to political upheaval in his country. He trained as a nurse's aide in the US and kept his royal status a secret for most of the last quarter century. The green card holder returned to Uganda earlier this month to assume the monarchy for his people. Good luck, King Charles.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus has sent a letter to the President asking him to terminate the controversial 287(g) program that allows local police to enforce immigration laws on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security. The CHC expressed its concerns about allegations of serious civil rights violations against Hispanics as well as recent reports of poor oversight in the program. The National Council of La Raza, the country's largest Latino civil rights organization praised the letter.

Hi All - Our priority date is current since the last Bulletin. We contacted our Senator last week for our cases. They just called us back and said that our file is at National Records Center...(not National Benefit's center). They also said that usually the cases that have been approved go there. But we do not have any approval through email or online. Info pass appoinment also did not help.
Has anybody else's case got transferred to National Records Center ?

Hi Folks,
My friend's 485 is pending with CIS and he is working on EAD. He currently does not hold any other visa. In fact his last H1 expired more than a year ago. We recently tried to renew his EAD online on USCIS website. However, we were stumped by a question which asks the applicant about his/her current immigration status in US. It was a drop down box and had many options like H1, L1 etc, but there was no option for somebody like him whose current status is just "AOS pending".
How do we get around this? Do you think it is best to apply on paper?

Hi all,
I am an American and my wife is going though the green card application process. We recently received our interview date. Unfortunately, it was scheduled one day prior to our wedding ceremony which is out of the country. Our wedding is being presided over by the mayor of a fairly large city, with like 300 or so guests and at this point would be impossible to change. At the same time I hear that mixing international travel and rescheduling green card interviews is a risky thing.
We have an infopass scheduled in two weeks, and beyond the supporting documents of our flight and wedding information, is there anything else we should bring to prove that we can't possibly be at this interview? Is this something a lawyer might be able to handle better (like have more credibility)?
Anyone willing to give odds on us successfully changing our interview date?

While filling my biographical information form (I-325a) I forgot to add one of my residential address which was in a different city where I stayed only for 2 months. I was wondering will that be a major issue?
I remember this is the address I gave when I got a job and they did a background check on me. If there are any repercussions how do I rectify the solution, can some one please respond?
