Bush is going back to the Capitol hill next week to push for immigration reform. He is hell bent on signing a CIR bill no matter what and Kennedy and durbin know that this there best chance to give amnesty to illegals and screew us Legals EB so this bill is going to be introduced and will pass for sure

I am on L1 Visa & I went to SSN office to apply SSN for my child (L-2 Visa). They refused to accept my application and they wanted Documentation from the appropriate government entity explaining the need for the SSN as per

Also on another note Senator Lieberman wrote a piece in investors.com which is pro-skilled worker and pro-H1B.

This is a good find. I'm happy that the senators are fighting to remove the cap for masters students. That would make lot of room for the non-ms students.

While I clearly do NOT agree with the original basis of this thread, here are the facts as I see it:
- We have an immigration backlog that affects a huge community and several people are only waking up to how serious this issue is (I will count myself in this category)
- IV has made significant contributions towards espousing our cause through the proper channels (via the press and lobbying)
- There is therefore greater interest today in an organization like IV and a desire to be part of the process including potentially financial contributions
- Hoewever, a lot of the new folks are looking for direction and a sense of belonging and action
- IV's policy of limited information dissemination (due to arguably valid reasons including the desire not to reveal any strategies to opponents of immigration) is not engendering the confidence required to welcome new members.
- An appeal for blind faith instead is just off-putting to most logical and thinking members and threads like these are nothing but an appeal for more information (stated rather poorly, I am afraid).
- In order to succeed, we clearly need to get everyone united
The reality is - IV needs a lot lot lot funds,IV needs manpower, IV needs your skills, IV needs your unity, IV does not need your criticism because if you criticize IV it won't help you.
So you and I together - united we stand - we build IV - if we do not want to take that extra step - we all suffer...............

In fact, with Obama's administration at least ready to talk about immigration, I think we have the perfect opportunity to get our point of view across through lobbying, which as you have said, will take a lot of funds. However, that said, is it really hard for the current team to undertstand that there are a lot of folks out there who want to contribute but would at least like to be informed on what is going on? I completely understand that those who are working hard on our cause don't really have the time to update others, especially given everything else in life they have to deal with. However, when there are people ready to take on this task, why the hesitation and the defensiveness in sharing information? We really need to move involve more people in this effort to have any chance of succeeding. I know a lot of folks have said something to the effect "it's not our job to inspire people - if they cannot be inspired to contribute, let them go to hell". However, I do think it's the job of leadership to inspire and get more people behind them or else no one will succeed - I really wish the Core team moves in this direction.

For example, if someone's Advance Parole document validity is terminating on (say for ex), July 16, 2009, then, should the person apply for renewing his/her application prior to July 16, 2009? In other words, should a person's application to renew his/her AP document be made prior to the termination of the current one, OR, could this application for renewal be made after the current AP document's validity expires (in this case after July 16, 2009)? Thanks a lot, friends.
USCIS accepts AP renewal applications 120 days in advance of expiring AP. The normal processing time for AP is approx 1-2 months (usually it is about a month). Keep in mind that the new AP which is issued will have an immediate effective date from the date of issue and the start date will not be from the expiry date of old AP. So in most cases you will end up losing some days or even months. If you do not forsee any immediate need to travel you should wait till 30-40 days prior to old AP expiry and then apply. If your travel plans are unknown and you may have to travel if an urgent situation arises, then you should apply 120-90 days in advance to make sure you have AP validity at all times. You will obviously lose some days or months... but then who says everything that USCIS does is fair :)

Simple and yet we have not acted purposefully. I have a strong feeling that this visa grab is still going on. HLG has sent out another immigration alert to all registered emails, similar to one posted on Feb 9, 2007. . And I quote a bit

I believe people in the SV have more sense of host, sense of responsibility, and sense of rights, as immigrants are majority here.
Jaime, your thought of having one more rally in Silicon Valley is a good one but again you are going to have the same crowd..!!
People in neighbouring states of DC did not make it , you tthink they will make it all the way to west coast! very doubtful!!
We should aim at bringing in more people to this family as possible..
Looks like a simultaneous rally on a weekend will be very effective!
And this time for the rally we will carry one one slogan banners

Personally, I would like nothing better than associate in cooperative spirit and stop all childish bickering.

Initially when I first got here, I was elated at a wonderful process to elect the President. It seems like the whole country was interviewing the person for a position. After having witnessed the one in 2000, 2004 and now this one, the entire questioning process is a waste of time and mere charade.
The issues at hand are so go damn complex where no one liners or one minuters could do justice. They always seem to have answers for every god damn question which is just impossible. Even the most intelligent person usually comes to an area where he has not framed his answer and would like to consult.
Specialized topic like Stem Cells to global issues of Global Warming, War, Poverty and very personal issues like religion and abortion, these folks seem to have the right answer in one minute.
By listening to their answers, you are generally getting deceived. While all this is said and done, people however 'third-world' or 'first-world' they are seem to vote for the party and not the person. So, war-mongers and most arrogant pricks would still vote for McCain and others may end up with Obama.
After all this rant, what does it mean for us in terms of legal immigration? Nothing -- coz you really do not know what they actually think and will do when they become one.
