Check with your lawyer but I believe there may be a grace period wherein they allow you to add your wife's name after 485 filing. In addition, there is a 4 year backlog in the family based green card process. 01-JUN-02 for FB-2A (India).
My pd is jan 2005 and i was waiting for the dates to become current.I am not married and will most probably get married by this year end[parents in the process of searching matches].my dilemma is whether to apply for 485 now or not.can i add my wife's name later on while the 485 is in the final stages of the process[say an year after the process began] or just before the green card is being dispatched etc so that both of us can get green cards.i dont want to miss this chance because i seriously feel that the dates might retrogress again.but if i apply and get a green card u all know how many years it will take to get wife to usa in family based immigration.somebody please clear my doubt.Thank you

If that is so the capital preserved by not doing an MBA in a top ten school which I estimate to be about 60-70K if I am not mistaken might be put to another use.

I agree with this. At Cornell, the cost is 90K, and then on their website, they say something like this: after getting our MBA you are ready for anything!

A lot of hard data shows that that is anything but the truth. That kind of money can be spent in buying a house for instance or something that is much more worthwhile. Nowadays, there are jokes about MBAs not being able to open a pdf document.
But I must add that after you've spent 10-15 years in industry, and you want to climb the corporate ladder, an MBA from Harvard or Sloan (or the very few top schools) will definitely help. The returns fall drastically as the rank of the school falls. Surprisingly, the fees don't fall that drastically, and that's why one has to be careful.
As far as ranks, created by US News etc, go: here is the thing. Arizona State is ranked in the top 50. But does it have the same reputation as MIT? No. So even if the ranking is in the top few, make sure the reputation is truly high. And that means three or four schools: Harvard, Wharton, Sloan ...

If they are going to give out the information, then it should be ok to pay $5k.
Questions are:
a) How soon will the work be finished?
b) Can they please integrate this request into their processes that they generate the numbers periodically, such that visa bulletins reflect demand appropriately?
i think if we are paying for something we should have the ownership it too.
lets format a reply saying that 5K is too much for the job...if they can give us their Data Model diagram, we can give them the code in a week without any cost.

I know i keep bumping this thread but I am surprised that no one has posted any experiences regarding the AP. I mean i see a TON of stuff about EAD renewals but nothing specifically about the AP. I guess ppl are more interested in making money than leaving the country (like ME ;) )

Just called USCIS and told her that My application was mailed on Jun 28th and it got delivered on July 02. I also told her that my PD is May 2003 (hence i'm eligible to file in June)..
She told me that since i mailed it in June and this Notice goes into effect in July 02 my application WILL NOT be rejected... She asked me to wait for receipt notice :)

I guess I am little late on this post but I thought I would share what I got from the USCIS Call Center.
My application reached on July 2nd. When I asked the representative about the fate of my application, first she said I should be fine. Then, I asked about the updated July VB and she put me on hold for 2-3 mins. She came back and told me that my application would be rejected and sent back in 15 days. When I told her that my application was received before DOS released the update and technically my application was received by USCIS when the bulletin was still current, she said that would depend on the descretion of that USCIS office.....funny but that's what she said. Again, she said that I could reapply in Oct and they will process the application then. But when I asked whether she was sure that VB will be current in Oct, she said USCIS doesn't know that.
So, the bottom line is.....there is no point in calling USCIS and asking them about the current fiasco as they themselves are unsure. You can still call them and you might hear something different but equally confusing.

I see point and counter-point, but no action yet.
Where did the 50K visas come from? Where will the 90K visas come from?
Are they from the total pool of 144K/year or is this an additional amount (144K + 90K) allocated for health care?
Who is included in health care? Thanks.

Those who do not know Hindi need not rule it out from the list of other Indian languages they could learn. And the same can be said for any of Assamese, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, etc.

Considering a new labor is approved in EB2 (through same or different employer), can another I-140 be filed with older EB3 PD? In that case what happens to already filed I-485 application (EB3)? Can it be adjusted with new I-140 in EB2? I was wondering if anyone has done that.

Dont get me wrong I understand how much the guys who missed out on the july fiasco want to prefile AOS and get EAD but without the provision to remove the restriction of same\semilar job requirement in AC 21 it (EAD) is useless. By now everyone knows that USCIS is heavily issuing RFE or denial notices for h1b transfer and extension. It is just a matter of time before USCIS starts issuing RFE or denial notice on EAD\485 as well. The prime candidate for USCIS to kick out people using EAD\485 is the same or semilar job restriction while using EAD\AC21. If everyone gets to pre file AOS without PD restrictions then USCIS will make using EAD as difficult as using H1b. Please fight for the removal of "same\semilar job requirement in AC 21" along with prefiling AOS so that everybody gets true relief and it really becomes a win win situation, otherwise it is a waste and will speed up uscis making life miserable for EAD workers.

I was told that if there are two different applications for the same person, then it raises a red flag and you might end up in a big soup...But having said that, your attorney(s) might have different opinion(s)...

I am trying to do this to make sure if anything goes wrong in any one of our application, I can depend on the other one.
2. If I get an EAD based on my wife's application, can we both switch jobs after 180 days and take advantage of AC21? I read in some forums that I can, but the primary application (my wife) has to work for the same company until we get I485 approved.
