IV is a voluntary organisation. You can request people to volunteer, but cannot force them or scold them for not volunteering. This is not professional. They might have their reasons and the right to work their way. I agree with your frustration when people who signed to turn up do not show up. But I feel this is not the way to express it.

For people to say they are coming and do not show up. I understand exceptions can happen, But least they could call-up and let the organizer know. I remember the same in recent Diwali Mela. Some who were supposed to come are still on the way.
This event was not to display the strength by show of hands. These members were expected to be delegated with some action items and follow up items. Either you volunteer or you don't. Why can't we call a spade a spade? Just because it hurts? If we start accepting this attitude it only reflects a weakness on our side.
I see no reason why these peoples handle should not be made aware to other members at least at the state chapter level. Now they would know who they could count on. If I am a part of this team I should know who are in my team, who are accountable and who are not.

Today I got a letter from USCIS office at Lee's Summit, MO stating that it would cost app $5000 for the customozed computer program to retrive the data.

If you were here two hundred years ago, you were part of them, no one will ask you for GC. Those people who came to this land two hundred years ago and their descendants are now recognized as Americans. They are no longer English, German, French, Italian...etc. They are Americans and this is their country which is called United State of America.
When this country starts the immigration law, does the law say only people from Asia is limited to 7% and not for people from EU ?
If this country today has no limitation with immigration and welcome anyone to come and stay forever at any time. This country will not be a great country anymore and I am sure many of you will not care to come to this land anymore but seek for another place.

I think I-485 filing clause is needed. Please note that the USCIS is not staffed enough. So there is a high possibility that the priority date retrogression will continue even if all the current provisions included in the Frist bill is passed. They will retain the retrogression in order to control the number of applications. In such a scenario, it is important for us to try and introduce the I-485 clause, so that people could get their EAD while they wait for USCIS to clear the mess. My 2 cents.

I am not sure how anyone could read this anything other than a suggestion that people in ROW category are unskilled and a worker from a oversubscribed country is skilled. You may be the most skilled, intelligent and smart person around here but rest of us can at least read and gather what you are trying to say.

I know you were talking about EB3 ROW but there are ton of engineers, software designers, and many more who applied in EB3 (some by skill sets, some by force, and some by choice). They are not unskilled people by any stretch of imagination.

We need 15 more senators to switch to NO for this to fail (not just 5). There will not be another cloture. This cloture gives 30 hours of time to debate those 24 amendments. I saw a petitioner recommend GT law in one of the posts. I think she is a lot luckier than me. I have had very bad experience with GT Law recently. Please see the following facts:
1) After 3 months, I was only informed that my salary is not meeting the prevailing wage requirement; 2) After 6 months, I was told that the attorneys are still struggling with the job description themselves without asking earlier for a conversation with my manager to help them resolve the problem. The issue they are struggling is that the field of my advanced degree is not related to the field I have been working in even if my skills sets fit right in!!! Can you believe it that we are actually advising them how to handle this issue and paying them a lot of money???? 3) During the 6 months, the attorneys have been changed twice and the transition of my case from 1 set of attorneys to another was very poor (I was asked for the same set of documents twice). It seems the process started all over again with each change. With the most recent set (the 3rd) of attorneys, they sent my files to the Maryland State to assess my salary level last week after we were informed about salary issue 3 months ago by the 2nd set of attorneys. It has been really a big mess. It has also shown that different sets of attorneys are definitely not talking. 4) When I check with them once every two - three weeks about progress, they would never give me a clear or meaningful answer even though they responded pretty quickly. They don't even want to tell me what has been the maximum processing time of all the labor certification cases they have handled. Now, after 6 months, my job advertisement has still not been launched yet and I have no idea when it will happen. BTW, GT Law is contracted with my company and I am required to use them for labor certification. Now I'm thinking I will have to change to a different company if I want to get it done quickly and successfully.
